Lezing Lecture		Kunst ontmoet Wetenschap De complexe relatie tussen object, subject en werkelijkheid die we zo graag willen begrijpen en waar we ons over verwonderen, maar waar we nooit een volledig overzicht van zullen krijgen is de drijfveer voor ons om kunst te maken en wetenschap en filosofie te bedrijven. Om deze onvolledigheid toch een bepaalde grip op de werkelijkheid te krijgen - zij het tijdelijk en nooit definitief - maken we systemen van bepaalde aspecten van deze wereld, diagrammen, theoriën, maar ook kunstwerken. Kortom: we maken overzichtelijke representaties door te proberen complexe verschijnselen te condenseren in voor ons begrijpelijke representaties van die verschijnselen. In deze lezing bespreek ik een en ander aan de hand van installatiekunst en Wittgenstein's notie van übersichtliche Darstellung. When Art meets Science The complex relation between object, subject and reality that we seek to understand, we wonder about and will never be able to survey completely, is the drive and reason for us making art as well as doing science and philosophy. In order to come to some sort of an understanding - being temporally and never fixed - we make systems of certain aspects of this world, diagrams, theories, but also works of art. In short: we make perspicuous representations. We try to condense complex phenomena into for us comprehensible representations of those phenomena. In this talk I will give some insights into the motives to compare a special form of art, namely installation art, with this Wittgensteinian notion of übersichtliche Darstellung.
