Lezing Lecture		Weten-dat -hoe en -onthecht In deze lezing introduceer ik een nieuw concept, onthecht weten, als aanvulling op de concepten die figureren in het weten-dat/hoe debat. Dit nieuwe concept is gerelateerd aan verbeelding, want naar mijn overtuiging is verbeelding, net zoals perceptie, redeneren, leren enzovoort ook een bron van kennis. Het verschil is echter dat verbeelding weer andere vormen van kennis voortbrengt, namelijk vormen die we in ons dagelijks leven 'creatieve kennis' of 'artistieke kennis' noemen. We kunnen onthechte kennis begrijpen als de brug tussen onze alledaagse vormen van kennis en creatieve en artistieke kennis. Knowing-that,-how and -detached In this lecture I introduce a new concept, detached knowledge, in addition to the concepts that figure in the knowing that/knowing-how debate. This new concept is related to imagination, as I will argue. My claim is that imagination is a source of knowledge too, like perception, reasoning, learning and the like, but one that gives rise to different kinds of knowledge, the ones that in everyday life we call ‘creative knowledge’ and ‘artistic knowledge’. We can understand detached knowledge as the bridge between our everyday forms of knowledge and creative and artistic knowledge.

Performance Performance		Filosofie en Kunst zijn Naaste Buren Filosofie en kunst staan te boek als de meest nutteloze disciplines die wij in onze gemeenschap kennen. Tegelijkertijd zijn het misschien wel de belangrijkste en meest waardevolle uitdrukkingen waarin we onszelf als mens kunnen leren kennen. In deze performance worden verschillen en overeenkomsten tussen filosofie en kunst naast elkaar gezet om beter inzicht te krijgen in het belang van beiden. Het blijkt dat ze een zelfde belang dienen: filosofie en kunst zijn er om onszelf en de wereld te verrijken. En dat verrijken heeft alles van doen met het verwerven van zelfkennis. De performance culmineert in het Groot Filosofisch Gedicht. Philosophy and Art are Next-door Neighbours Philosophy as well as art are reputed to be the most futile disciplines we know in our community. At the same time, however, they are the utmost important and valuable expressions in which we can come to know ourselves as human beings. In this performance, similarities and differences are weighed against each other. It becomes clear that both serve the same purpose: philosophy and art exist to enrich ourselves and the world. The enrichment has everything to do with acquiring self-knowledge. The performance culminates in the Great Philosophical Poem.		Photographer unknown
